Sincerely, Amy | Memories from Japan
As my family returns from our bucket list trip to Japan, I’m eager to recap with shoppers about such a memorable experience. From the stops we made and the sights we saw, to the incredible sushi we enjoyed, take a peek into our journey in this month’s Sincerely, Amy.
My family and I recently returned from our big trip to Japan. Our journey started in Tokyo, then moved on to Kyoto, and ended in Osaka. It was truly amazing, it was so much more inspiring than I could have ever imagined. Everything there is so beautifully designed - down to the food packets, and paper bags. I filled a massive tote full of paper scraps and tickets that I compiled into a journal!
During our two weeks there we were able to visit so many beautiful shrines and UNESCO world heritage sites. I always plan my trips around stopping at as many of them as I possibly can, and they always guarantee something dazzling. Kyoto was definitely a highlight, I would love to go back in a few years and explore even more! It had so many different areas from old to very modern. The wood houses are so gorgeous, it would be so special to stay in one in the future! The Golden Pavilion was incredible, Todaiji (the great buddha of Nara) was stunning and awe inspiring, and all the amazing food markets in every city were so fun and lively. It was the perfect bucket list trip to gather inspiration for future designs!
Now that we’re home I’m preparing for all things fall, I’m just excited for the autumn season and all the newness that’s in-store here at Printfresh! We just released Hen House and Show Pony, two prints that I have been eagerly awaiting. I think both have a great transitional feel to them now that we’re moving away for summer, so I can’t wait to see how all of our shoppers take to them when the weather cools down.
So, are you looking forward to a new season like me? I hope you can find something new at Printfresh to make August even brighter!
Sincerely,
Amy
Favorite meal in Japan…I loved our sushi dinner at Harukoma Honten in Osaka and sushi in Kyoto at Sushi and Bar Spot.
The pajamas I brought…I wore my Bagheera Ink Satin pants nonstop!
The shores I wore…When I’m doing a lot of walking in cities I tend to wear sneakers - so mostly my Golden Gooses, as well as alternating between rose gold metallic Birkenstocks.
Surprisingly I loved…7-Elevens are great for lots of fun snacks - my kids loved the pancakes that have a divot for butter and syrup, and they really enjoyed the smoothie machine.
My travel tip for Japan…Bring a blank notebook - the train stations have stamps so it’s really fun to collect them all.
